Important Person

Captain Yamato says they will leave into the base as soon as the guard clone is complete. Before they can do anything however, a barrage of kunai comes flying at them.

They all jump backward and look up to see Kabuto leap down and land in front of Sai. He comments that he had thought they had fooled their tracker. Kabuto adds that it is not unexpected since he is one of Orochimaru's "guinea pigs."

Naruto scowls and Sakura comments that he is persistent. Kabuto says to Sai that he seems to have been taken prisoner. They are interrupted when Naruto tells Kabuto to leave or he won't hold back.

No sooner does he finish saying this then a clone comes charging down the cliff wall with a Rasengan. Kabuto smiles then dodges and defeats the clone saying it is a waste of time.

Naruto forms 4 more clones and says he won't know until he tries. They surround Kabuto and charge him but he dodges them then uses a chakra blade to get rid of them. Yamato uses a wood jutsu but Kabuto dodges that as well.

Sakura runs up the wood and charges at Kabuto. He smiles at her but recognizes the danger at the last minute. There is a large explosion and a nest of wasps flies out of the crater created from Sakura's punch.

Kabuto lands with Sai and then comments that her attack was impressive. All of a sudden the swarm of wasps surrounds Kabuto and attacks him. He uses his chakra blades to slice through them all and then he says that he is at a disadvantage fighting all three of them.

Kabuto looks at Sai then says that since it doesn't seem like he has betrayed them he will trust Sai for now. He then frees Sai from the wood binding him.

Kabuto says he feels sorry for them especially Naruto who is the most pitiful one. He says that people change and Sasuke is no longer the person he used to know.

Naruto watches him for a moment then his eyes widen as Sai suddenly restrains Kabuto and forces him to his knees. The others watch in confusion and Kabuto asks what Sai is doing. Sai does not reply but remembers what Naruto said about Sasuke being like his brother.

Kabuto reminds him of his mission to be a liaison between Orochimaru and Danzou. Sai reminds Kabuto that he said that people can change which includes himself. Sai then turns to Naruto and says he wants to see the bond he spoke of for himself.

Captain Yamato jumps down and tells Sai not to let go. He then binds Kabuto with a wood jutsu.

Later on, Yamato forms a wood clone as a guard. Naruto turns to Sai and asks what he is thinking. Sai replies that he wants to know why Naruto goes so far for Sasuke and to see what bonds really are.

He comments that he and Sakura told him he still has bonds with his brother. He has a flashback of their discussion in the base about the importance of Sai's book. He then says that if bonds are really that important then he might understand them if he sees Naruto and Sasuke.

Naruto smiles but they stop when Kabuto starts chuckling. Sakura asks what is so funny and Kabuto looks up at them and says they don't know the real Sasuke.

Yamato steps forward and asks when Sasuke is. Kabuto does not reply but just glares back defiantly. He then says that Sasuke will have finished his training and gone back to his room in the inner area.

Sai comments that Sasuke did go to train with Orochimaru so he does not think Kabuto is lying. Naruto says they should hurry but Sai says that "inner area" does not tell them much. Kabuto says even he doesn't know the exact room.

Naruto says they will just have to search all of them. Kabuto notes that Naruto's strategy might work but if they aren't careful they might disturb the wrong person. Kabuto says Orochimaru's room is also in the inner area.

Yamato thanks Kabuto for being honest and Kabuto says there is no need for thanks. Yamato surmises that he thinks they will all die and Kabuto says "Exactly." Yamato says they will see. Then they all leave except for the guard clone.

After they leave Kabuto says: "Pitiful."

Inside the base, they run together to the main room and down a hallway. Yamato says they will split into two teams to search for Sasuke. Naruto and Sai will be one team and Sakura and Yamato will be the other. Naruto nods his agreement to Sai's surprise and Yamato gives them instructions to focus their chakra if something happens. They then split up.

As they run, Naruto remembers his first time the others as Team 7 when they were all Genin. He remembers the battle with Haku and Zabuza and Sasuke protecting him from Haku's needle barrage.

He then remembers the first Chuunin exams and finally the great battle they fought in the Valley of the End before Sasuke left the Leaf Village for good.

Sakura also remembers the time when Sasuke left the Leaf Village after knocking her out. Naruto and Sai come to a door but there is no one inside so they continue.

Sakura checks a room but finds it empty and they continue on. The two groups check numerous rooms but find them empty everytime. Naruto runs faster shouting out: "Sasuke!"
