Sasori's True Face

Once his true form is revealed, Sasori explains that he wasn’t surprised that Sakura was able to dodge all of his poison needles so easily since it was Chiyo who was controlling her through nearly invisible chakra strings. She also took control of Hiruko’s tail, which would explain why it stopped so suddenly in front of Sakura’s face. The strings were connected to the tail through the kunai that Chiyo sent at Hiruko earlier. It’s hard for Sakura to believe that Sasori, who left the Sand Village twenty years ago, could look so young.

Outside, Deidara heads off with Gaara in tow. Naruto tells Kakashi to help Sakura and Chiyo, but the two eventually head after Deidara anyway. Team Gai is still preoccupied with their doppelgangers, but no progress is made. After all, when you’re fighting a perfect mirror image of yourself, there’s no telling how long the battle can last.

Elsewhere, Temari, Ebizou, and her group of shinobi have since met up with Kankuro and they are closing in on the Konoha shinobi. They arrive in the area where Kakashi’s group battled Itachi, but some of the group is struggling to keep their breath. Kankuro suggests they take a break and Temari scolds her group for being so lazy, but they have been serving as border patrols for 24 hours and now have had to run for so long.

The group eventually gets back up, but Ebizou suggests that, judging from the aftermath of the battle with Akatsuki, that the group takes a chance to regroup before rushing wildly into a fight. He tells them about the incident with the Third Kazekage, who is said to be the most powerful. There was a rumor that he was kidnapped by someone, but the village did everything in their power to find out the truth. As a result of this, they grew distant and distrusted other villages willing to help them. Had the Sand Village been calmer, they could’ve avoided a great war. They never were able to get any information on who kidnapped the Third Kazekage, though.

Chiyo remains frozen at the sight of Sasori’s true face after a twenty year hiatus. Sasori pulls out a scroll and summons another puppet, but it’s that of the Third Kazekage. It turns out Sasori is the “someone” that kidnapped the Third Kazekage, but it doesn’t end there. Even though Orochimaru is the one who killed the Fourth Kazekage, Sasori played a part in it as well. While Orochimaru has since quit Akatsuki and is no longer Sasori’s partner, they were able to get a fair amount of work done together.

Seeing as Sasori knows about Orochimaru, Sakura has a few questions for him, but Sasori isn’t the type to keep people waiting. He sends his puppet forward, but Chiyo brings Sakura back and blocks the puppet’s blades through Hiruko’s tail, but even that is destroyed by the blades. Sasori reveals another trick: thousands of hands emerge from the puppet’s arm and they’re all headed for Sakura. Though all of the arms came crashing down, Sakura narrowly avoided them. Clearly, Sasori can’t win this battle as long as Chiyo is control of Sakura. In order to settle this, one of the arms emits a poisonous gas that completely surrounds Sakura.
