Deidara and Sasori give more consideration to Itachi’s description of
the Jinchuuriki when Naruto continues to yell and scream for Gaara to
stand up; he doesn’t quite understand that Gaara’s been dead for some
time. Naruto’s emotions get the best of him and he charges forward, but
as Kakashi tells him, if he just acts wildly without giving it rational
thought, they’re all going to die.
Each member of Team Gai finds themselves fighting a perfect mirror
image of themselves. Since shinobi operate in groups of three or four,
a team would have to wait for a fifth person in order to remove a
barrier. That by itself already takes up enough time, but Akatsuki
cleverly set a trap for the barriers: a perfect clone of whoever
removed the seal will appear- a clever plan on Akatsuki’s part. The
sparring begins, but as expected, their clones think, react, act, and
attack just as the originals do, meaning that this is going to be a
drawn out battle that will delay them from helping Naruto and the
others.
Kakashi easily figures out the roles Deidara and Sasori played in
capturing Gaara and defeating Kankuro. Deidara and Sasori get into a
bit of a debate not only on who should fight Naruto, but what their
different perceptions of art are. To Sasori, art is something beautiful
that endures the test of time: it’s eternal beauty, but to Deidara, art
blossoms for an instant. As strange and pointless (at least, to the
others) this argument may seem, the two Akatsuki members continue in
their debate so much that they completely forget about Naruto and the
others, or so they believe.
Naruto, insulted by this side conversation, summons a giant shuriken
from a scroll and throws it at the Akatsuki members, only to have
Sasori knock the shuriken away without missing a beat or batting a
glance in Naruto’s direction. It appears that the fight is going to
between Deidara and Sasori, but before Sasori can strike Deidara with
his tail, Deidara summons a clay bird and flies out with Gaara in tow.
Naruto and Kakashi decide to take him on, leaving Chiyo and Sakura to
battle Sasori. Kakashi contacts Gai for backup, but he and his squad
are still preoccupied with their clones.
Sakura can tell just by looking at Sasori how much experience he’s had
and how many people he’s killed, but that isn’t going to frighten her.
For the moment, Chiyo will battle him by herself. She pulls out a slew
of kunai connected by chakra strings and sends them forward with Sou
Shuu Jin (Flying Blade Manipulation). Sasori is able to deflect them
all and decides that he has no choice now. He rips his cloak off and
reveals a form unknown to the others.
